Privacy Policy

ReelCritix shows no ads and sells no data. This page lists what the site collects, why, and who else sees it. Questions go through the contact page.

Browsing

You can read every page without an account. We use Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages are useful. Nothing else on the site tracks you. Our hosting provider, Google, keeps short-lived server logs (such as IP addresses) to run and protect the service.

Analytics cookies

Google Analytics sets cookies that tell one visit from another. We use them only to count visitors and pages, never for advertising: ad storage and ad personalisation are switched off for everyone. In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland the cookies stay off until you accept. Elsewhere they are on unless you decline.

Change your cookie choice. You can also block Google Analytics everywhere with Google's opt-out add-on.

Accounts

If you sign in, with Google, Facebook, email or a phone number, Google Firebase stores your sign-in details and a profile with the name you choose. Your watchlist, forum posts and any edits you suggest to film or filmmaker pages are stored with your account.

Studio

When you make a video in Studio we store your prompt, any start image you upload, the settings you chose, the finished video and your credit balance. To make the video, your prompt and start image are sent to the video service that runs the model you picked (currently Replicate and fal.ai, which run models made by ByteDance, Kuaishou, Alibaba and Google). Those services handle them under their own privacy terms. Your videos are kept in Google Cloud Storage until you delete them or your account.

To stop the one-time free credits being claimed twice, we keep a one-way code made from your email address or phone number. It cannot be turned back into the address.

Payments

Credit packs and plans are sold through Stripe, with Link acting as the merchant of record. Your card details go to Stripe, never to us. We receive what a purchase needs: what you bought, the amount, whether it was paid or refunded, and a customer reference. Stripe's own privacy policy covers what it collects.

Forms

Messages from the contact, film, critic and review request forms are sent by email through FormSubmit to the people who run the site. They ask only for what we need to reply.

Who we share data with

Only the services named on this page, so the site can work: Google (Firebase, Cloud, Analytics, hosting), Stripe and Link, Replicate and fal.ai, and FormSubmit. We share data with anyone else only if the law requires it. We do not sell personal information or share it for advertising.

How long we keep it

Account data and videos stay until you delete them or ask us to. Payment records are kept as long as tax and accounting law requires. Database backups expire after seven days.

Your choices

You can see and change most of your data while signed in, and delete your videos in Studio at any time. To get a copy of what we hold, correct it, or delete your account and everything stored with it, follow the data deletion instructions. Wherever you live, including California, the EEA and the UK, we honour these requests.

Children

The site is not meant for children under 13, and Studio purchases are for adults only. If you believe a child has given us personal information, tell us and we will delete it.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. Material changes will be noted on the site.
