How to animate a photo or drawing with AI
Every model in ReelCritix Studio can start a video from your own image, called the start frame. The video begins on your picture and the model animates it from there. It is the best way to keep a specific face, character, product or drawing looking exactly as you want.
How to do it
- Open Studio and drop a PNG, JPEG or WebP (up to 7 MB) into Start frame.
- Tick the box confirming you have the right to use the image.
- Pick a shape that matches your picture: 9:16 for a tall image, 16:9 for a wide one.
- Describe the motion, not the picture. The model can already see it.
"The paper boat bobs and drifts slowly down the gutter as rain falls; the camera follows it."
Which model to use
- Photos of people: Kling 4.0 or Wan 3.0. Seedance often refuses photos of realistic-looking people; see why.
- Drawings, illustrations and products: any model. Seedance is good at keeping a character consistent as it moves.
Tips
- Use a sharp, well-lit image. The model cannot add detail that is not there.
- Keep the motion simple for short clips: a turn of the head, a slow camera move, wind in the trees.
- Children's drawings animate wonderfully; describe how the character should move.
